The Top 10 Best Airlines In The World 2018

Skytrax has released the list of the best airlines for 2018 in a prestigious event at The Langham Hotel in London this July 17, 2018. The World Airline Awards started in 1999. The best airlines are determined via customer satisfaction survey with as many as 20 million completed entries for the year 2017-2018. The award which is dubbed as the “Oscars of the aviation industry” is topped by Singapore Airlines.

Singapore is no stranger to these awards with Changi Airport also named as the World’s Best Airport for 2018 topping the list for the sixth year in a row. The top 10 list is dominated by Asian carriers with two from the Middle East and one from Europe. There are no US airlines who qualified for the top 10.

Here are the top airlines for 2018 :

1. Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines is recently soaring with its acquisition of new Airbus A380 planes, additional flights to Melbourne-Wellington, and Canberra, and launching the world’s longest commercial flight which will commence on October 2018. Singapore Airlines also received the top spot in the ‘World’s Best First Class’, ‘Best Airline in Asia’, and ‘Best First Class Airline Seat’ categories in the 2018 rankings.

 

2. Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways, the national carrier fo the State Of Qatar, has always been a top airline of choice in the Middle East region offering some of the premium luxury services for their flights. Qatar Airlines has plans to expand their destinations to some part in Eastern Europe as well as in Southeast Asia. Qatar Airways was also voted ‘Best Airline in The Middle East’, ‘Best Business Class Seat’, and ‘Best First Class Airline Lounge’ for 2018.

3. ANA All Nippon Airways

ANA All Nippon Airways of Japan bags the third spot this year. It also claimed the awards for ‘Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness’, ‘Best Airline Staff in Asia’, and ‘Best Cabin Crew in Japan’.

 

4. Emirates

Emirates Airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East. Emirates also got the awards for ‘Best Inflight Entertainment’, and ‘Best Airline Staff in the Middle East’.

 

5. EVA Air

Taiwan’s EVA Air is among the Asian carriers which make it to the top 10 as well as getting the ‘World’s Best Airport Services’ award. It has over 40 international destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. Eva Air is also known for their Hello Kitty jets which features exterior and interior design of Sanrio characters.

 

6. Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific Airways is the flag carrier of Hong Kong and has been a mainstay in the top 10 list. It caters to over 190 destinations in 60 countries worldwide.

 

7. Lufthansa

Lufthansa is the only European carrier to make it to top 10. It is also Europe’s first & only 5-star airline. Among its list of achievements, Lufthansa is the largest German airline and the largest European airline in terms of fleet size. It has also won the title of ‘Best Airline in Europe’ for the second time in a row as well as ‘Best Airline in Western Europe’, ‘Best Cabin Crew in Germany’, and ‘Best Business Class in Europe’.

8. Hainan Airlines

China’s Hainan Airlines ranked at 8th in the list. It is the first mainland China-based airline to be included in the top 10 list for the second year in a row and was named a SKYTRAX Five-Star Airline for the eighth consecutive year. It also received the following awards ‘Best Airline in China’, ‘Best Business Class in China’, ‘Best Cabin Crew in China’, and ‘Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in China’.

 

9. Garuda Indonesia

Garuda Indonesia is the national airline of Indonesia. Garuda Indonesia operates flights to 133 destinations in 14 countries. The airline was previously banned from flying into European Airspace but has since made a turnaround when it resumed European flights in 2009. It received the ‘World’s Best Cabin Crew’, and ‘Best Cabin Crew in Indonesia’ awards for 2018.

 

10. Thai Airways

Thai Airways is another Asian carrier which made it to the list. Thai Airways is the flag carrier of Thailand which has a fleet of over 90 aircraft flying to 84 destinations in 37 countries. It also received the following awards for the year 2018: ‘World’s Best Economy Class’, ‘Best Economy Class Onboard Catering’, and ‘Best Economy Class in Asia’.
